How well I remember. Mother would hand me my weekly allowance with one of several admonitions. Her favorite was "A fool and his gold etc.----------------"
Now, I very well understand where she was coming from. The Great Depression may have ended, but the struggle she and Dad went though was strong in her memory.
Are we back to the "good old days"?
