GO TO IRAQ?

McSame says Obama should go to Iraq.

I say you don't need to go to the Moon to know it ain't green cheese.

At Least Two Are Killed in Manhattan Crane Collapse

========================================

Speaking as one who worked in construction for a number of years, I find the frequency of cranes collapsing in New York City to be very disturbing.

As the old saying goes: " there's something rotten in Denmark", or NYC as the case may be.

They better fix it.

Energy Cost

I wonder how many people think that if they have patience, the price of gasoline will go down to a level more like a year or so ago. It ain't gonna happen. So sorry!

Oil on the market closed a little below $130 per barrel today, but my bet is that it goes up again, by 3, down by 2, up by 4, down by 3, and so on and on. Some experts think $200 per barrel is possible, and $6-7 per gallon of gasoline is coming. Maybe even higher!

I have a theory, that's not pleasant to contemplate. I think maybe the folks that have control of the crude oil supply, (middle east folks) know it makes no sense to challenge us militarily, but by slowly driving up the cost of energy, they can eventually wreck our economy.

"Why would they do this?", you may ask. THINK IRAQ, among other things.

The policies of the fools that have been running this country have created much emnity against us by millions of people in various parts of the world. What will it take to recover from this madness?

MEMORIAL DAY Lest We Forget

Lafayette CA War Dead Memorial

View of the memorial from the Lafayette BART parking lot.
Upon the breast of Mother Earth
Sleep the spirits of the dead.
We who view this somber place
Should never rest until
No more crosses fill this space.

LONG LIVE THE LION OF THE SENATE

McCAIN AND CUBA

John McCain, the nominee presumptive of the Republican Party is on a major rant about Cuba, and how Obama would sell out the United States were he to become president.

Question 1: What is it about weak and tiny Cuba that seems to frighten so many politicians, mostly of the rightist persuasion? Is it Cuba's all powerful military force that scares hell out of the Republicans, much as a mouse is reputed to frighten an elephant?  Question 2: Is this why the elephant is the Republican symbol?

My answer to Question 1: There are a lot of Cuban voters in Florida that have a huge effect on the Electoral College vote, and the Republicans will stoop as low as necessary to gain these votes. My answer to Question 2: I don't have an honest answer. I wish I did, but these folks are hard to fathom.

PROFESSOR OF TORTURE

Torture protests at UC law school ceremonies

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What in the world has happened to UC Berkeley, once the bastion of liberal civilization? It's hard to believe that John Yoo,a tenured professor of constitutional law is an advocate and justifier of torture for the Bushcheney evil twins.

We don't just need a change in Washington. Berkeley could also use some help it seems.

The advocacy and practice of torture by what is supposed to be a civilized government does not portend well for the future of our country. History show that countries that lose their moral compass eventually lose their power, and sometimes the architects of evil practices are charged as war criminals and suffer punishment for their crimes.

This is a stain on the fabric of our Constitution that must be washed away.

CHINA QUAKE

The images of destruction, suffering and death coming from the earthquake in China remind one that mankind is a pathetic pipsqueak compared to the power of Mother Nature.

All of us, whether the powerful or powerless, rich or poor, should humble ourselves before this awful spectacle and realize that we could be next.

All that hold an office of power and prestige must understand that they, in the eyes of Mother Nature are no better than a peasant in poverty.

Believe this, and conduct yourselves accordingly,

THE IDIOT SPEAKS

The Idiot-in-Chief went to Israel to help them celebrate their 60th anniversary. All was well until he opened his mouth and spouted demagogue garbage. What a terrible person he is.

I was born in 1933. shortly after the inauguration of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, one of the great presidents. Here I am, 75 years later and we have the person who will no doubt go down in history as the worst president.

I remember a lot of presidents, and this guy is CRAP!!

A DISGRACE

Bush Issues Veiled Attack on Obama

Published: May 16, 2008

JERUSALEM — President Bush used a speech to the Israeli Parliament on Thursday to issue a veiled rebuke to Senator Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential contender, who has argued that the United States should negotiate with countries like Iran and Syria.

How did we get such a slimy character as President?

If Dubya had been draft age on December 7th, 1941, you can bet the farm he would have found a way to weasel out. Probably some sort of spinal defect would render him unable to serve. A Nazi supporter by default.

TORNADOES VS. EARTHQUAKES

Tornadoes leave at least 22 dead http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/05/11/severe.weather/

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

About 25 years ago I was in Atlanta GA a few days after a 6.7 earthquake in Central California that caused structural damage from moderate to severe. Almost everyone at the convention I attended that knew I was from California said they would never live in earthquake country. To that I replied that I believed California to be safer than hurricane/tornado country.

I believed it then and I believe it now.

STUPID VOTERS

Over and over again, I see on the news, polls of Democratic voters that say if their candidate doesn't win, they will either vote for McCane or not vote at all.

HOW STUPID IS THIS?

Do these silly fools really want 4 more Bushyears of war and economic idiocy?

Incomprehensible!!!!!

POLITICS, OIL, GASOLINE MAKE STRANGE BEDFELLOWS

Chevron posts profit of $5.2 billion
The oil company beats analysts' forecasts despite an 84% drop in earnings from refining and gasoline retailing.

CHEVRON POSTS PROFIT OF $5.2 BILLION

All politicians that support the "gas tax holiday" foolishness should wear a T-shirt with the above headline printed on it.

While Bush and his oil buddies are getting obscenely rich, the vast majority are paying and suffering, while the pols try to fool them into thinking the gas tax scheme will alleviate their suffering.

Snake oil politics. Don't buy it.

ELECTORAL FOOLISHNESS

Bloomberg calls gas tax holiday a dumb idea Gasoline-tax reprieve: an idea running on empty Minimal cost savings, increased dependence on foreign oil, and high administrative costs are among reasons why this idea ran out of gas. By David R. Francis

YADA-YADA-YADA

Way back in 1932 when the economy was bad and people were suffering, Franklin Delano Roosevelt promised a "NEW DEAL".

Here we are in 2008, the economy is bad, people are suffering and all we get is a "NEW SPIEL".

YADA=YADA=YADA=nada

Time to shut-up and get to work.
