Senator Larry Craig

Senator Craig will probably have to resign soon, because his colleagues have very little tolerance for homosexuality.
I think that before he takes the drastic step of giving up his Senate seat, he should put himself in the hands of one of the far right Republican preachers that claim they can cure his "disease".
I would hope that his "friends" on the Republican side of the aisle would give Larry every opportunity to take the cure and remain an important part of the hypocrite machine.

Later: Now Craig says he may not resign. He claims that he is not gay, but his behaviour is more than a bit queer.

Alberto GONEzales

A letter to Senator Barbara Boxer

Regarding the resignation of Alberto Gonzales, "good riddance to bad rubbish".
A name being bandied about as his replacement is Michael Chertoff. This is absolutely unaccepable, and I expect you as a United States Senator, and your fellow Senators to make certain that this doesn't happen. Surely there must be an honorable and competent potential nominee out there somewhere.
Please Senator Boxer, save us from this gang of thugs. Our country can't stand much more of their business as usual.

Regarding the departure of Alberto Gonzales, what will change? Gonzo was nothing more than the "bus boy". The "kitchen" still has the same "bad cooks" with their pots of boiling trouble on the stove and the burners set on high.

No Honor among Thieves?--------------

Breaking News!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

from Bloomberg news:

Warner Says U.S. Should Start Withdrawing Troops on Sept. 15

By Bill Roberts

Aug. 23 (Bloomberg) -- Virginia Senator John Warner said President George W. Bush should begin withdrawing troops from Iraq on Sept. 15 to show the Iraqi government that the U.S. commitment there isn't open-ended.

Bush should announce that ``we will start an orderly, carefully planned, thought-out redeployment,'' said Warner, the No. 2 Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Warner said the number of troops to be withdrawn and the timing of the withdrawal would be up to the president.

Warner suggested Bush should pick a few thousand soldiers out of the 162,000 U.S. combat troops now in Iraq, or ``whatever number he wants,'' Warner said.

``Say 500 could begin to redeploy and be home not later than Christmas of this year,'' Warner said.

Or is this the Republican version of "good cop. bad cop"?

So-called Petraeus Report

Whose Report Is It, Anyway?

Special to washingtonpost.com
Thursday, August 16, 2007; 12:26 PM

The "Petraeus Report" -- the supposedly trustworthy mid-September reckoning of military and political progress in Iraq by Army Gen. David H. Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker -- is instead looking more like a White House con job in the making.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/blog/2007/08/16/BL2007081601003.html?hpid=topnews

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The conventional wisdom circulating around Washington and the talking heads is that General Petraeus will give a "report" written by Bush flunkies in the White House.

If this is true, and the General is an honorable man, he will RESIGN, before this report is even written.

Bushrove

I can put the Bush-Rove legacy into very simple terms. They knew how to win elections. They knew not how to govern.

Minneapolis "crime scene"

Shortly after the Minneapolis bridge collapse, a local law enforcement official said that they were treating it like a crime scene. Well, it is a crime scene, the criminals are in positions of power, and they have been derelict in their duty to protect innocent citizens.

How do you charge an incompetant official with manslaughter?

Bridge problem solution

Dick Cheney is working on the problem. As soon as he can figure out how to give all the infrastructure maintenance to Halliburton, there will be plenty of money to upgrade and replace bridges. Of course, we will borrow this money from China.

Minneapolis bridge collapse

The wolf is at the door. For decades we have squandered our national resources on foolish foreign adventures, and now the neglect of critical domestic infrastructure is going to cause untold grief.
The Minneapolis bridge collapse is a clarion call to warn us of more impending disasters. "therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls" (John Donne). It tolls for each and everyone of us.
