THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

To become a fully civilized country, we must have a fully civilized healthcare system.

Afghanistan and Vietnam

When Afghan President Karzai becomes too much of a nusiance for us, will the same fate befall him as has befallen others who obstructed our "foreign policy"

A little history from WIKIPEDIA
"The CIA was in contact with generals planning to remove Diem. They were told that the United States would not oppose such a move nor punish the generals by cutting off aid. President Diem was overthrown and executed, along with his brother, on 2 November 1963. When he was informed, Maxwell Taylor remembered that Kennedy 'rushed from the room with a look of shock and dismay on his face.' He had not approved Diem's murder. "

AFGHAN WAR

US diplomat resigns over Afghan war: report
(AFP) – 8 hours ago
WASHINGTON — A diplomat disillusioned with US involvement in Afghanistan has become the first US official known to have resigned in protest over the eight-year war, The Washington Post said Tuesday.

Is this the first whiff of the stench that was Vietnam?

As Shakespeare said; "Lord, what fools these mortals be". As Peter, Paul and Mary sang; "O when will they ever learn?" As George Santayana said; "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Here we go again!

WIMPY HEALTH CARE

Senator Harry "Wimpy" Reid is promoting a health plan that has a so-called "public option", but allows states to drop out if they wish. In other words, if the insurance companies in a state put heat on the local yokel politicians, they will cancel the national plan and screw their citizens into having to get a more expensive plan though a greedy insurance company. What's next? Changing Medicare so states can drop out?

All power and glory to the insurance companies, and to hell with the people.

FOX

FOX is not a news organization. FOX is the mouthpiece of the Republican Party, just as PRAVDA is the mouthpiece of the Communist Party. Democrats should treat far right mouthpiece organizations with scorn and news organizations with respect.

Bring on the hounds and run down the FOX!

Al Qaeda

Forgive me, but in my days of antiquity I seem to be unable to understand the need to fight Al Qaeda in Afghanistan. If I remember correctly, the perpetrators of 9/11 were, except for 2, all Saudi Arabians. The 2 were Egyptians. NO Afghanistanis.
Are we fighting the wrong people? Obviously, we can't attack the Saudis. They have the oil.

What to do? What to do?

DUH!

GREED AND HYPOCRISY

Since the debate began on "health insurance" throughout Congress and the whole country, tv commercials by the insurance industry have more and more dominated the screen. They are all uniformly smarmy and hypocritical. One of the companies even has a name that appropriately rhymes with "scam".

PERFECT!! .

THE REASON FOR CONSTANT WAR

"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist." Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1960

http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/ike.htm

Do you wonder why proper healthcare for all citizens is probably impossible? The words of Eisenhower will help explain. We may well have reached the point where constant war is necessary to feed the voracious beast that is the "military-industrial complex". Unless citizens realize what is going on and rise up to smite the beast, we may be at war until our country is a moral and economic wreck.
The pages of history are littered with the bloody bones of war.

BAUCUS TO THE MAX

The Senate finance committee passed their version of a healthcare bill minus a public option. Damn the polls that say 60-65 percent of the public wants a public option. Well, what do you expect of Senators that are into the pockets of the insurance industry to the Max. After the vote, several of the Senators were prattling on about the cost, and how unfair it is to the poor taxpayers, yada-yada-yada.Here's the way it is. If these stupid and greedy fools would stay out of stupid and foolish wars, there would be plenty of money to take care of the sick, and improve the health of all.

The Democrats are all happyface because Senator Olympia Snowe voted with the Dem side. Maybe this is good, or maybe it's a Snowejob. Trusting a Republican is akin to opening the gates to the Trojan Horse. BEWARE!

THERE, I SAID IT!!!!
