GM's Rick Wagoner

Rick has been shown the door. If he had good sense, he would have left before the embarresment of being booted. The ship is sinking. The captain must always take the blame.
Regarding GM, and many other companies, incompetence must not be rewarded. The ethic of the Samurai falling on his sword may be too harsh, but there has to be some self recognition on the part of these fools that they have failed and should step aside. Or be forced aside.

Sara Palin

Sara the hypocrite.

From the King James Bible, Matthew 6:5
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

WHAT A MESS IS AIG

I'm no expert on high finance, and don't claim any clairity concerning the AIG disaster. That being said, and having listened to some of the Congressional hearing into the mess, I have to wonder why an orderly bankruptcy and reorginization would not better serve us than this obscure ring-around-the-rosie of talking heads and self serving politicos.
This dinosaur of a corporation has a deadly cancer within it and may be incurable by any means known, expecially to those within the company. Treasury and Federal Reserve seem to have lost control of the situation, and should have it removed from their (lack of) control. Give it to a federal bankruptcy court that has the power to enforce decisions.

PAY FOR INCOMPETENCE

AIG's insistence on bonuses raises ire in Washington

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/03/15/AIG.bonuses/
=======================================
If these employes are so smart and so valuable, why is AIG in such financial difficulty? Why do we, the taxpayers have to prop these jerks up?
AIG, don't pay the bonuses. It would be a reward for incompetence. Considering the current and probable near future economic troubles, it's not a sure thing that these folks would leave and find a better job.
AIG people, get to work and bail yourselves out. No welfare for the rich.

THE RIGHT TO ARM ENEMIES

Commentary: U.S. Gun Laws Fuel Mexican Drug Wars

Aren't you so proud of the 2nd Amendment nuts that are arming the enemies of the USA?
Does the so-called "right to bear arms" give these evil doers the right to provide arms to drug dealing gangsters?
When you work both sides of the street you may get killed when you cross from one side to the other.
Think about it.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The USA, in the name of "national security", has many thousands of troops fighting and dying in the Middle East. The grim news of drug wars coming from the USA-Mexico border would seem to be more of a threat than than a war 10,000 miles away. The Mexican government seems unable to control the drug cartels. This is a clear and present danger right on our southern border.
Has the time come for us to stay home and mind our own business?

DEATH OF A SALESMAN

Thoughts on Bernie Madoff.
It is mind-boggling that he was able to run this scam for so many years. It is even more mind boggling that so many seemingly intelligent people would hand over their money to this arch-criminal. Had none of them ever heard the old saying, "if it sounds too good to be true, it most likely is" ?
Too bad that Bernie wasn't convicted by a court in China. Likely sentence would involve a firing squad.

Stem cell speech: Cheers, applause and rebukes for Bush
USA Today - ‎33 minutes ago‎
"I'm excited too," President Obama said as he tried to quiet sustained applause in the East Room of the White House.

Out of the dark ages of superstition and into the bright sunlight of scientific truth.
Let there never be another child of medieval time become the occupant of the Oval Office.
Intelligent science is not a gift to be squandered or ignored. Rather, it is the way to survival of the species.

MORE ON HEALTHCARE (moron healthcare?_

The members of the United States Congress have the best healthcare that money (our money) can buy. Why do so many of them want to deny proper healthcare to their constituents?
Their healthcare benefits should be cut off until they provide us with what they get. If they vote in a substandard system, then so should they suffer under a substandard system.
People, stand up and kick these pigs away from the public trough until they do the right thing.

Limbaugh as Der Fuherer

The scat in the news is that Rush Limbaugh is the "defacto" head of the Republican Party. Seems like a natural in the present political scene. He can spout drivel, bombast and demagougery better than any Republican since Joe McCarthy. He may remain in this "defacto" position for the forseeable future unless the American Nazi Party experiences a resurgence. Then Rush would find a home more suited to him than the Republicans. He could even take some repubs with him and further weaken the "Grand(?) Old Party.

PS Someone on tv referred to Rush as the "defatso" head of the Republican Party. Wish I'd thought of that.
