Republican Harold Edward Stassen (April 13, 1907 – March 4, 2001) was the 25th Governor of Minnesota from 1939 to 1943 and a later perennial candidate for other offices, most notably and frequently President of the United States.(from Wikipedia) He ran in 1948, 1952, 1964, 1968, 1976, 1980, 1984, 1988, and 1992.
It became somewhat of a joke, but he was always considered a nice guy among a wide range of political affiliations.
Now we have Ralph Nader. A joke and a jerk. It it wasen't for Nader, maybe there would have been no Dubya, and maybe no war, and maybe tens of thousands of the dead would still be walking on the Earth.
To paraphrase Shakespeare:
"Will no one rid us of this miserable bastard?"
