DESTRUCTION IN JAPAN

Seeing on television the grim images of total destruction in Japan made me think of the old radio drama by Orson Welles,THE WAR OF THE WORLDS. The radio show was broadcast in 1938. My mother and grandmother were in a room with closed doors listening to the broadcast. It was done as a real event, and fooled millions into thinking it was true. My brother and I walked into the room where they were listening. We were immediately run out. I remember the grave faces of mother and grandma. I was only 5 years old. I still remember.
The next radio broadcast I remember was December 7th, 1941. That was real.

TRAPPED IN THE WRECKAGE
ARE THE SOULS OF THE PEOPLE
THEY WILL RISE AGAIN
