TRAGEDY IN WEST VIRGINIA

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_L._Lewis

The awful coal mine tragedy in West Virginia made me think back to my young days when John L Lewis was head of the mine workers union and labored mightily to improve the horrible conditions that mine workers suffered under.
John L Lewis was hated by the rightwing and the business community as a charlatan who was out to steal their money and give it to the poor white trash who labored in the mines under the most dangerous conditions imaginable.
John L Lewis was a workingman's hero, and deserves sainthood for his efforts to improve the working conditions of the poor people who labored under the lash of uncareing management.
I worked for a number of years in the construction industry and remember difficult conditions. It was NOTHING compared to the what the mine workers suffered.
