Tom Lantos served ably and well for almost 14 terms in the Congress of the United States. Tom and I did not always agree, especially on the war in Iraq and other Middle-East questions, but he had my utmost respect.
Tom was a good man, an honest man and he served his district with honor and distinction. His local office was always ready to help constituents who had problems with the federal government. Two members of my wife's family that had trouble with Social Security went to Tom's San Mateo office and got a swift resolution.
Goodbye Tom, and may your successor take your example to heart and serve as ably as you did.
