Corporate Fascism

The Supreme Court far rightists have dealt a body blow to democracy with this evil decision to sell the country to the big corporations. The little people will become the fire hydrants for the big dog corporations. Before this decision there was some question as to how bad the Democrats House and Senate losses would be in 2010. I don't see any question now, unless by some miracle the voters get smart and vote against the corporate candidates.
Voters getting smart is a long shot.

GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, ETC.

Abe Lincoln ended his Gettysburg Address with this: "and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

The Supreme Court has decreed that it shall now read: "and that government of the corporation, by the corporation, for the corporation, shall not perish from the earth.

REPUBLICAN MANTRA

MAKE WAR, NOT HEALTH

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

The good 'ol USA

Why is it that war is good and healthcare for all is socialism?

SO-----------------

-----------the Dems lost the Massachusetts Senate seat held by Teddy Kennedy for near 50 years. So, the Dems are down to 59 votes in the Senate? SO? FORGE AHEAD! FIGHT!!
The Repubbys don't want proper health care for the common man? LET THEM FILIBUSTER 'til Hell freezes over. They will be seen for the monkeys that they are.

It's time for Harry Reid to go. No more Mr. Nice Guy, We need a Lyndon Johnson to jawbone and arm twist. I can hear him now. "Why Senator, I didn't know your wife is a blond. She's not? I could swear that lady I saw you with last night was a blond. My goodness, gotta have my eyes checked." And so on-----------------

WE NEED HARDBALL!!!

Haiti Aid

What a shame it is that we're not as adept at "making peace" as we are at making war.
I'm sure that there is a valuable lesson here, and I hope it will be learned by all, no matter what their station or occupation.

"Blessed are the merciful:
for they shall obtain mercy."

MACHIAVELLI IN CHARGE

The Obama critics are howling and wailing that he hasn't fired anyone in the wake of the Christmas Day aircraft bombing attempt. It has occurred to me that there may be a perverse logic in this. To illustrate: If certain people are fired and blame is heaped upon them, those remaining may believe they are home free and it's back to business as usual. If no one is fired, each should be thinking "would it have been me to be fired?" "I will work harder. I will pay closer attention. I will do my job to the best of my ability and try to assure that my compatriots do the same."

President Obama is a very bright and clever man. Don't underestimate him.

TAKE THE BLAME

The Republicans are falling all over themselves to blame Obama and the Dems for the Christmas Day terror event. No one died, and the perp is locked up, probably for the rest of his life. The Republicans are praying for a disaster to occur. They would like to forget that the worst disaster to occur on our soil since Pearl Harbor December 7, 1941, was on their watch when 3000 died in New York City on 9/11. They had been warned. They ignored the warning. They are covered with shame. They are a disgrace.

INITIALIZATION OF SECURITY

TSA was AWOL and suffering from CRIS. Can Obama KSFA at the CIA?

DA GOVANATOR

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the esteemed Governor of the Great State of California gave his swan song speech to the legislature yesterday. In spite of the lousy economy, the budget shortfalls and hard times in general, the Gov has ambitions. It reminded me of a saying my grandmother used back in the days of the Great Depression and World War 2 when I would complain about not having all I thought I should have.
Granny said (many times): "If we had some ham, we could have some ham and eggs. If we had some eggs."

PITA

Screen crawler says " Tests show that Rush Limbaugh has no ailments".
Rush IS the ailment, such as the pain at the end of the alimentary canal.

COURAGE

Today is January the 1st, 2010. The Festival of Roses parade is on television. Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger is the Grand Marshall riding in an antique automobile.

Occasionally there comes along a genuine hero. One who rises far above the usual charlatens, thieves and ner-do-wells that fill the print and electronic media.

I believe that Sully is a man who would say he was just doing his job. And he was. But, unlike the majority, Sully did his job in an extraordinary manner, bringing together bravery and devotion to duty and taking them to a great height.

Ernest Hemingway defined courage as "Grace under pressure". This is perfect for Sully. After his masterful landing in the Hudson River, the safe evacuation of all the passengers and crew, as the aircraft was sinking into the frigid water of the Hudson, Captain Sullenberger went back into the cabin and walked all the way to the back to be sure that there were no passengers left. This is indeed, "GRACE UNDER PRESSURE".
