LETTER TO JACKIE
Dear Jackie
Will there ever be rational control of firearms? I find it hard to understand why there are more stringent regulations concerning owning and driving an automobile than there are about guns.
Does NRA mean "Not Rational Associates"?
Back to owning and driving an automoble. There are laws concerning proper maintenance and insurance for the automobile. Why can't there be innsurance requirements for guns? It would provide care and compensation for those wounded, or the families of those wounded or killed by a firearm.
The time has come for good sense to prevail.

Lewis Carroll poetry
"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes--and ships--and sealing-wax--
Of cabbages--and kings--
And why the sea is boiling hot--
And whether pigs have wings."
My favorite verse from one of my favorite poems, Silly and profound.

ULTIMATE STUPIDITY
Reuters) - The Federal Aviation Administration said on Friday it will close 149 air traffic control towers at small airports across the country beginning on April 7 as it copes with automatic federal spending cuts.

How many will die at the hands of the fools who are running the show?
The dumbing down of government will be the death of us all.
Pitiful ! Assinine !!

WAR
I opened my Chronicle this morning and was immediately struck by the front page image of the Lafayette crosses. My daughter lives near the site and when I visit her I pass by the Memorial. A constant reminder of the madness and futility of war. And, each time I see the field, the famous World War 1 poem, IN FLANDERS FIELD comes to mind. I'm 80 years old, and it seems that all my life there has been one war after another. When will we ever learn?
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.
John McCrae

THOUGHTS ON MARRIAGE
If two individuals of the same or the opposite sex wish to enter into a legal and binding partnership, it should not be the business of any government or religious organization to place obstacles in the path of love
Love and the permanent relationship between two consenting adults must be permitted and respected.
I am an 80 year old straight man, married for well over 40 years. The above are my honest opinions that have evolved over many years of observation and reflection.

BUSH'S BRAIN
Thinking about the book, BUSH'S BRAIN, that's getting all the yada-yada on tv political news brought me to this thought. Is BUSH and BRAIN in the same thought process the ultimate oxymoron?
Just thought I'd ask.

ASHLEY JUDD vs. ANCIENT PUD
Ashley and the Pud are in the Kentucky Senate race. Go for it, Ashley! Put the old fool out to pasture. It's what old bulls (hiters) need at the end of their useful existence.
This is the real KENTUCKY DERBY!

NEWT the GALOOT
Newt Gingrich says President Obama is "lazy". How stupid can Newt be? Lemme tell you something, Newt. I grew up in the South, and I know for sure there is no one lazier than a white trash Southern boy. Do you fit that description?

A PARTY OF FOOLS
Regarding Sequester
The far right of the Republican Party is trying to take over the political process, and may they be consumed in the fires of Hell for the evil of their ways.
In all of my near 80 years I have never seen such a pack of jackals. They hate Obama so much they are willing to ruin the country, and hope the voters are so stupid they won't understand the President didn't instigate this mess.
I knew when Obama won the election the Republicans would stop at nothing to try to make him look bad, and damn the USA. Hate is the engine of destruction.
I think back in history and the formation of the Nazi Party in Germany comes to mind. It started in the political and economic chaos of a country devastated by war. Now we have our version of the Nazis called "Tea Party". People better wake up. We could be headed down a dangerous road.
