Is this what we need? Is this what we want? Women in combat?  Well hooray for them. As for me, I see this as another step in the decline and fall of civilization. Will equality really make us all equal? Does equality mean the lowest common denominator? We need to search for the answer to this question. Time may be running short.
Although I profess to be an agnostic, I recognize the wisdom of much of The Bible. Below is some of that wisdom.
Matthew 5:9 9 "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God".
If there is to be peace on Earth, it may have to come from the efforts of the female of the species. They bear the children, and they must work to create the environment that provides safety and peace for the children.
The male of the species has done very poorly in this effort. We men must learn to do better.

THE HILL

The Capitol of the United States is often referred to as "The Hill". There are many hills. A very large mound of "materia scatalogica" could also be referred to as a hill.

GUNS AND CHILDREN

According to the NRA, guns are protected by the Constitution of the United States. Nothing in the Constitution about children being protected. Do we need a "Newtown" amendment? Does the NRA give a damn?

Antonio Villaraigosa

Antonio Villaraigosa, the Latino mayor of Los Angeles.

Barack Obama became the first African-American to become President of the United States. Will Mayor Villaraigosa become the first Latino-American to become President? Is the phrase, "All men are created equal-----" coming true?

I was born during the first term of FDR, one of the great men of the 20th century.
Years later, Jack Kennedy was elected President. Many thought that a Roman Catholic would never be President. Times changed.

The path for Obama was steep and difficult, but he persisted and overcame many obstacles. He has shown the way, Will Hillary Clinton benefit from Obama's struggle? She may. She should. Will Antonio follow her? He should.

Will we then have proof that all PEOPLE are created equal and can aspire to and gain high position, fame, and the love and respect of ther fellow citizens?

The time has come!

MILITARISM

led to Naziism, which led to World WAR 2, which led to millions of deaths and massive destruction.  The Nazi Party was the ultimate far rightwing of politics. We must beware of this happening in the USA. There are organzations that must be carefully watched and not allowed to pursue their evil ways claiming that the Constitution gives them privledge. Beware of those who spout patriotic swill on every street corner. If you follow them, you are the loser.

Hooray for President Obama and his gun control speech this morning.

I am a lifetime gun owner. However, I do not worship at the alter of the NRA.

Guns should be registered and controlled by competent authority, just as moter vehicles are. I'm not allowed to drive without a license. Why should I be allowed to fire a weapon without proof of competency?

It is the responsiblity of government to protect citizens both from themselves, and from the "evil that men do"

Thanks for the opportunity to speak my mind on this issue.

If you have a problem, you must face the problem. You cannot turn your back on a problem and expect it to go away.

Our government must think that ignoring North Korea will make it go away. For more than a half century this hasn't worked. Why would anyone think that it may work in the future?

Peace and prosperity require knowledge, understanding and cooperation among nations. Ignoring the problem leads to ignorance, mis-understanding and strife.

Talk to your perceived enemy. You may find a friend.

"WELL REGULATED"

A talking head doesn't know what the Second Amendnment means. Well doofus, it means what the founding fathers meant it to mean. "A well regulated militia------------------" etc.

Well citizen,, what is it about the English language  that you don't understand? Do we really want every birdbrain to be able to own a high powered killing machine? I hope not.
