James Carville

I like James Carville. He is a hoot. I sympathize with his obvious great distress over the tragedy of the Gulf. He is outraged over his perception of government response to the oil disaster.
HOWEVER!

James is a politician. I'm sure that he has benefited from the largess of "Big Oil", as have most of the body politic. Msybe he should temper his criticism before he veers into out of control hypocrisy.

Just a thought.

Rand Paul says the United States should cease "granting" citizenship to children born in the US to aliens. This fool is running for the Senate, and evidently he is ignorant of the Constitution of the United States.

THE WAY IT IS

The oil companies have been in part ownership of the United States Government for generations. It's a stranglehold that will be difficult to break. If the Gulf spill brings this about, there will be some good that comes from the monstrous evil that has been done to the waters and shores of the Gulf of Mexico.
I believe that the United States Government should seize all BP assets that are located on U.S. territory. Take full control of these assets and hold them until ALL claims are settled, and there has been full remediation of all financial and environmental damages.

I often wonder about some of the folks that characterize themselves as "libertarian".
Sometimes they seem close to crossing the line to anarchism. The current darling of the right, Rand Paul, winner of the Kentucky Republican senatorial primary may be one of these. Those of his ilk seem to hold a hatred of government, especially a government that guarantees certain liberties to all people, especially those that are perceived to be of a lesser class. However much they claim to hate the principles that good government espouses, they love to gain public office and enjoy the priviledges, perquisites, and power of the office.
Interesting that the given name "Rand" is the surname of the famous author Ayn Rand, the goddess of the far right. I doubt that this is a coincidence.

I was asked if I was surprised by the outcome of the Sestak/Spector Senatorial primary in Pennsylvania. I replied:
"No, I don't think so. A turncoat often leaves people with a bad taste, even if he has supposedly turned your way. There's always the chance the turncoat turns again.
Interesting to see the big margin Specter started out with. Then you could see Sestak catching up at a rate that looked like a winner. Joe should have it made in the general."
Congratulatios to Joe Sestak. He's partway on his journey to be a senator. I believe that he will be able to handle the general election without serious problems. He's a smart man, has served his country well, and will continue to serve.

I don't know about Rome, but the "glory that was Greece" has gone a glimmering. We had better learn a lesson from what is happening to the Greeks, and possibly much of Europe, before the same misfortune befalls us.
