Arlen Specter

Now that Specter has defected and obstensibly becoma a Democrat, our party must hold his feet to the fire when a critical vote comes up and the outcome would not be in our favor if Specter doesn't vote correctly. It should be made crystal clear to him that if he votes wrong, his reelection chances will go down the drain.

This is hardball. The pitches are fast and they are close.

Senator Arlen Specter has had a revelation and is leaving the 19th century party and joining the 21st century party. A great leap forward.

Now, if Minnesota can get their act together and seat Al Franken in the Senate, maybe some progressive legislation can be passed and bring us in line with many other industrial countries, especially in the area of health care.

A Punishable Offense
In the war crimes tribunals that followed Japan's defeat in World War II, the issue of waterboarding was sometimes raised. In 1947, the U.S. charged a Japanese officer, Yukio Asano, with war crimes for waterboarding a U.S. civilian. Asano was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor.
